Long-term Care

On April 23, Guardian Pharmacy of Minnesota is hosting its spring nurse and caregiver training courses at the St. Cloud Holiday Inn. The seminars will focus on prevention of slips and falls and antipsychotic medication reduction.

Lynn Gerard, director of nursing at Guardian Angels Care Center in Elk River, will present both courses. The slips and falls prevention training starts at 10 a.m. The antipsychotic medication reduction training will start at 10:50 a.m. and will focus on strategies to better manage the use of these medications, as they can cause negative side effects.

Lunch will be provided and then attendees will get to learn more about two valuable products used in long-term care facilities, the ride java cushion and the therapy doll. The cushion is used to prevent pressure sores and tissue deformation for those in wheelchairs while the therapy doll is used as a nurturing technique for residents.

We are excited to host this event and provide proper training to nurses and caregivers. If you have any questions about the training courses or would like to register for the event, please contact Mark Boe at 320-257-8758 by April 17. We look forward to seeing you all there!
